Your First Challenge
Challenges are the core of the Green Ambassador platform. Each challenge is a self-paced mini-course on a specific sustainability topic that rewards you with B3TR tokens when you pass.
All challenge content is based on peer-reviewed scientific research. Every article, video, and exam question is grounded in credible, published science, not opinions or marketing.
Finding a challenge
- Go to the Challenges page
- Browse by category or scroll through the available challenges
- Each challenge card shows the topic, difficulty level, and the reward you'll earn
Choose a topic that interests you. There's no required order, start wherever you like.
Challenges are organized into categories covering a wide range of sustainability subjects; climate science, renewable energy, biodiversity, circular economy, and more. Some challenges are developed in collaboration with partner organizations. New challenges are added regularly.
Difficulty levels
Each challenge has a difficulty rating so you can choose one that matches your knowledge:
| Difficulty | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Beginner | Introductory topics with straightforward concepts. No prior knowledge needed. |
| Intermediate | Builds on foundational ideas. Some familiarity with the subject helps. |
| Advanced | In-depth material requiring careful study. Expect more detailed exam questions. |
If you're new, start with a beginner challenge to get familiar with the format.
How a challenge works
Every challenge follows the same structure: sections containing learning activities, followed by an exam.
1. Learning activities
Each challenge is divided into sections, and each section contains one or more learning activities:
| Activity type | What it is |
|---|---|
| Article | A curated reading piece on the topic, sourced from peer-reviewed research |
| Video | An educational video explaining key concepts visually |
| Other materials | Infographics, case studies, interactive content, or external resources |
Work through each activity at your own pace. There are no time limits on any section or activity. The goal is to understand the material, not to rush through it.
2. The exam
After completing all the learning activities, you'll take a multiple-choice exam that tests your understanding of the material.
- Questions come directly from the learning activities
- You need to achieve a passing score to earn your reward
- The number of questions varies by challenge
Pay close attention to key facts, statistics, and definitions in the learning activities. These are often tested during the exam.
3. Results
After submitting your exam:
- If you pass: Your B3TR reward is registered and will be paid out after a waiting period (see below). The challenge is marked as complete on your account page.
- If you don't pass: You can retry immediately. There are no cooldowns or penalties, and retries are unlimited. Go back, review the sections that felt tricky, and try again.
You can only earn rewards once per challenge. Passing the same challenge again won't generate a second payout, but retaking challenges is a great way to reinforce what you've learned.
Earning your reward
After passing a challenge, here's what happens:
- Result recorded: Your result is logged on the platform
- Waiting period: There is a waiting period before your reward is paid out. This security measure helps protect the integrity of the platform.
- Automatic payout: After the waiting period, your B3TR reward is automatically sent to the wallet connected to your account
You can track the status of your pending rewards on your account page.
How much will you earn?
Your reward depends on two things:
- Base reward: Every challenge has a fixed base reward in B3TR. This is shown on the challenge card before you start.
- Your multiplier: A personal multiplier that increases your payout based on your activity and engagement with the platform and the VeChain ecosystem.
The formula is simple:
Reward = Base reward x Your multiplier
For example, if the base reward is 4 B3TR and your multiplier is x3, you'd earn 12 B3TR for that challenge.
Your multiplier starts at x1 when you first join. As you complete more challenges and engage with the VeChain ecosystem, your multiplier grows. See Reward Multipliers for all the ways to increase it.
Where do rewards go?
- Managed wallet: Rewards are deposited into your managed wallet on the platform. You can view your balance and withdraw at any time.
- Self-hosted wallet: Rewards are sent directly to the VeChain wallet address you connected to your account.
The Treasury and Funding page explains where the B3TR rewards come from and how the platform is funded through VeBetterDAO weekly emissions.
Challenge rewards are funded by the platform's allocation from VeBetterDAO governance rounds. The base reward for each challenge can change between rounds depending on the allocation the platform receives. Learn more about the B3TR token.
What can you do with B3TR?
B3TR is a token on the VeChain blockchain with several uses:
- Hold it: Keep your tokens and benefit from holding-based multipliers
- Swap to VOT3: Convert B3TR to VOT3 and participate in VeBetterDAO governance
- Explore the ecosystem: Use B3TR across other apps in the VeBetterDAO ecosystem
- Sell it: You can cash out your B3TR for dollars or other currencies using various exchanges
