Voting and Allocation Rounds

The Green Ambassador Challenge's funding depends on community votes. Every week, VeBetterDAO runs an allocation round where VOT3 holders vote to decide how B3TR is distributed among sustainability apps. Voting supports the platform and earns you rewards.

Why your vote matters

The Green Ambassador Challenge doesn't have a fixed budget. Its weekly funding comes entirely from VeBetterDAO allocation rounds, and the amount it receives is determined by how many votes the community casts in its favour.

Every vote for the Green Ambassador Challenge translates into more rewards for challenge completions, more treasury funding for platform development, and continued growth of the sustainability community.

The ripple effect

Supporting the Green Ambassador Challenge through votes creates a positive cycle:

1. More votes → More B3TR funding from VeBetterDAO.
2. More funding → Higher challenge rewards for all users.
3. Higher rewards → More users join and complete challenges.
4. More users → More potential voters.
5. More voters → Back to step 1.

This cycle sustains the platform's mission of making sustainability education accessible and rewarding.

How allocation rounds work

Every week, the VeBetterDAO treasury releases a batch of B3TR tokens that need to be divided among all sustainability apps in the ecosystem. Instead of a central authority making this decision, the community decides through allocation voting.

Here's the cycle:

1. A new round opens: A fresh allocation round starts each week.
2. VOT3 holders vote: Anyone holding VOT3 can cast votes for the apps they want to support.
3. The round closes: After the voting window ends, votes are tallied.
4. B3TR is distributed: Each app receives a share of the weekly B3TR emission proportional to the votes it received.

Key timing details:

• Rounds start weekly: A new round opens automatically each week.
• Votes reset each round: Your votes from last week do not carry over. You must vote again in each new round to have your voice counted.
• No limit on participation: You can vote in every single round.

Voting eligibility

To vote in allocation rounds, you must meet one requirement:

• Complete at least 3 challenges on the Green Ambassador Challenge (or 3 qualifying actions on other VeBetter ecosystem apps) in the last 12 weeks.

The 12-week eligibility window is rolling. As long as you stay active with at least 3 challenges in any 12-week period, you remain eligible. If you use the Green Ambassador Challenge regularly, you likely meet this threshold without any extra effort. You can check your eligibility on the governance portal.

How to vote (self-hosted wallet)

Before you start

Make sure you have the following ready:

Step 1: Visit the governance portal

Go to governance.vebetterdao.org in your browser.

Step 2: Connect your wallet

Click Connect Wallet and select your VeWorld wallet. Approve the connection request in your wallet app.

Step 3: Swap B3TR to VOT3

If you already hold VOT3, skip to step 4.

1. Navigate to the token swap section on the governance portal.
2. Enter the amount of B3TR you want to convert.
3. Confirm the swap. The exchange rate is always 1 B3TR = 1 VOT3.
4. Sign the transaction in your wallet.

For example, swapping 100 B3TR gives you exactly 100 VOT3. No fees are taken from the swap itself, but you'll pay a small amount of VTHO for transaction gas.

Step 4: Wait for an active voting round

Allocation rounds open on a weekly cycle. Check the governance portal to see whether a round is currently active. If the round hasn't started yet, you'll see a countdown.

Step 5: Cast your vote

1. Click Cast your vote (or the equivalent button) on the governance portal.
2. You'll see a list of all eligible sustainability apps.
3. Select the apps you want to support. You can vote for one app or split your votes across several.
4. Distribute your VOT3 among your chosen apps using the sliders or input fields.

Step 6: Confirm and sign

Review your vote allocation, then click Confirm. Sign the transaction in your wallet. Once the transaction is processed on the blockchain, your vote is recorded.

After you vote

• Your VOT3 is not consumed. It stays in your wallet. You can vote again in the next round with the same tokens.
• Claim your voting rewards after the round ends. You earn B3TR simply for participating (see below).
• Your multiplier gets a boost. Voting in the current or previous allocation round activates the "Last allocation vote" multiplier on the Green Ambassador Challenge.

Voting rewards

After each allocation round closes, a portion of the weekly B3TR emission is set aside for voters. Every wallet that cast a vote during the round receives a share of this voter reward pool. Your share is proportional to the amount of VOT3 you voted with.

The double benefit

Voting doesn't just earn you direct B3TR from VeBetterDAO. It also activates a reward multiplier on the Green Ambassador Challenge:

The multiplier activates when you have voted in either the current or the most recent allocation round. As long as you vote at least every other week, this bonus stays active.

Claiming your rewards

After a round ends, head to governance.vebetterdao.org and look for the claim option. Claiming requires a small VTHO gas fee for the transaction.
