Self-Hosted Wallets

If you connect the Green Ambassador Challenge with a self-hosted wallet such as VeWorld, you stay in full control of your private keys, your tokens, and your voting power. This also means staking and voting are not handled automatically: you decide when to convert B3TR into VOT3, which apps to vote for, and when to claim your voting rewards.

This page walks you through how to vote in VeBetterDAO allocation rounds using a self-hosted wallet.

If you use a managed wallet, you do not need to follow these steps. The platform stakes your rewards and casts your votes automatically.

Before you start

Make sure you have the following ready:

Prerequisite	Why you need it
A self-hosted wallet (e.g., VeWorld)	Required to connect to the governance portal and sign transactions.
VOT3 tokens	VOT3 is the voting token. You can swap B3TR for VOT3 at a 1:1 ratio in step 3.
VTHO	Needed to pay gas fees for the swap and vote transactions. A small amount (typically under 50 VTHO) is enough.
Voting eligibility	You must have completed at least 3 challenges (or 3 qualifying actions on other VeBetter ecosystem apps) in the last 12 weeks. See Voting and Allocation Rounds.

Step 1: Visit the governance portal

Go to governance.vebetterdao.org in your browser.

Step 2: Connect your wallet

Click Connect Wallet and select your VeWorld wallet. Approve the connection request in your wallet app.

Step 3: Swap B3TR to VOT3

If you already hold VOT3, skip to step 4.

Navigate to the token swap section on the governance portal.
Enter the amount of B3TR you want to convert.
Confirm the swap. The exchange rate is always 1 B3TR = 1 VOT3.
Sign the transaction in your wallet.

For example, swapping 100 B3TR gives you exactly 100 VOT3. No fees are taken from the swap itself, but you'll pay a small amount of VTHO for transaction gas.

Newly swapped VOT3 cannot be used to vote immediately. Your VOT3 becomes eligible to vote starting the following Monday. If you swap on a Wednesday, you'll need to wait until the next Monday. Plan ahead so your voting power is ready when a round opens.

Step 4: Wait for an active voting round

Allocation rounds open on a weekly cycle. Check the governance portal to see whether a round is currently active. If the round hasn't started yet, you'll see a countdown.

Step 5: Cast your vote

Click Cast your vote (or the equivalent button) on the governance portal.
You'll see a list of all eligible sustainability apps.
Select the apps you want to support. You can vote for one app or split your votes across several.
Distribute your VOT3 among your chosen apps using the sliders or input fields.

Voting for the Green Ambassador Challenge helps increase the platform's weekly B3TR funding. Even splitting just a portion of your votes our way helps.

Step 6: Confirm and sign

Review your vote allocation, then click Confirm. Sign the transaction in your wallet. Once the transaction is processed on the blockchain, your vote is recorded.

After you vote

Your VOT3 is not consumed. It stays in your wallet. You can vote again in the next round with the same tokens.
Claim your voting rewards after the round ends. You earn B3TR simply for participating (see Voting rewards).
Your multiplier gets a boost. Voting in the current or previous allocation round activates the "Last allocation vote" multiplier on the Green Ambassador Challenge.

Troubleshooting

Problem	Solution
"Not eligible to vote"	You need at least 3 completed challenges (or actions on other VeBetter apps) in the last 12 weeks. Complete more challenges and try again.
VOT3 not appearing as voting power	Newly swapped VOT3 is only eligible starting the following Monday. Wait for the next round.
Transaction fails	Make sure you have enough VTHO to cover gas. Check your wallet balance and try again.
Wallet won't connect	Ensure you're using a supported browser and that VeWorld is installed and unlocked.
